PRESIDENT MESSAGE………. Kalvin Korff
Finally a dream has come true.  Welcome one, welcome all.  At last we have our very own website.  I would like to thank our sponsor president, President Linda Russell and the all of the other Bay Area presidents that have offered their support and their combined effort in this endeavor.  Special thanks goes out Mr. Phil Tucker, president of Union Automation for his advice, support and expertise in setting up the web site for all of the Bay Area retirees clubs to use and enjoy.  I would like to give a special thanks to Carmen Slack, Union Automation's Web Master, for her caring, teaching and most of all her patience with us "oldies but goodies," in setting up our web site.  She has more patients than a hospital, and I am one of them that flunked "Computers For Dummies," (LOL). Together we had a vision, yes SOLIDARITY works.

NOTE OF THANKS & RETIREES WIN STANLEY GOLF CUP
We would like to thank and acknowledge our sister Local 870 Retiree Club for their sponsorship in our 4th Annual Stanley Lathen Golf Tournament.  The retiree team of Ben Kuduk, Gerald Singer, Dick Jones and Kalvin Korff have "bragging rights" for this year.  We defeated Local 373R active member team by one stoke.  The score was 63-64.

CLUB ACCOMPLISHMENTS IN 2002
1. Our club is the first retiree club, to our knowledge, in the history of the UFCW International Union, to join the Active Ballot Club with their sponsor union.  We had 127 retirees that became ABC members.
2. We bestowed the title of president emeritus to Mr. Charlie Phillipson, our first retiree's president, of our club.  We also bestowed a Life Time Membership to Past President Myrtle Halden.
3. We voted in April as a club to implement our Attendance Award.
4. We voted to implement a Charity Fund, using the Safeway Club Card, to help children, battered women shelters, and teen crisis centers.  We have reached out to seven different organizations in Napa and Solano Counties.
5. We voted to established the first ever UFCW Local 373R/532 Retiree's President's Award.  This award is given to person out side of our club that has promoted union and seniors issues, in the best interest of union and non-retirees of the Bay Area, in California and across the United States.
6. We co-sponsored the Stanley Lathen Golf Tournament and successfully raised over $3,000.00 for scholarships for active and retiree spouses, dependent children and dependent grandchildren.
7. We went on a membership drive and we increased our membership from 138 to 177.
